A piece of great news arrived for the fans of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi, on December 23.
FX Networks announced an order for the comedy series, ‘Reservation Dogs‘ directed and produced by Waititi. Through its official Instagram page, FX released the first look at the series, and added the following information as a caption:
“Reservation dogs has officially been ordered to series. it tells the comedic story of four native teenagers in rural Oklahoma who spend their days committing a crime… and fighting it.”
Meanwhile, Waititi delivered the exciting news through his verified Instagram account with a note that reads:
“Rez Dogz is coming. I am so proud to be a part of something that amplifies indigenous voices and especially proud to be making it with my brother @sterlinharjo.”
As Waititi declared in his post, for the series, the creator of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated series, ‘What We Do in the Shadows,’ teamed up with well-known writer and director Sterlin Harjo.
Alongside Waititi, Harjo executive produced the series and directed the first episode, in which Tamara Podemski, Zahn McClarnon, Macon Blair, Kirk Fox, Matty Cardarople, Dallas Goldtooth, Lil Mike, and Funny Bone will appear as guests.
FX Entertainment’s president of original programming Nick Grad commented on the series, and the collaboration of Waititi and Harjo in a recent statement:
“Taika Waititi lends his considerable talents to the series, helping Sterlin and their creative partner Garrett Basch produce a unique and original series we can’t wait for audiences to see.”
Grad also described the series as “a true-to-life and incredibly funny story of youth, courage, and misadventures” during the interview.
The release date of the series, starring D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Devery Jacobs, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor, has yet been officially announced.
