Tatiana Maslany: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine Fired Me For My Wokeness’

She never actually appeared in the film, but this sparked a fake rumor.

Tatiana Maslany recently joked about being fired from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ because of her so-called ‘woke agenda.’

The ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ star made these comments during a podcast appearance on October 22. During the podcast, Maslany joked, “I was in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ I had two scenes in it. And then Ryan Reynolds fired me because he didn’t like these scenes. Now I’m suing Disney.”

She also sarcastically added that her feminist agenda got her fired. “I always talk about how much I hate Wolverine and Deadpool,” she said. “I talk about it all the time. I also wish I’d just sit down and stop pushing my feminist agenda and just realize that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ made a lot of money and ‘She-Hulk’ only made three dollars. That’s why they were getting rid of me because I had this woke agenda and I really wanted to bring it into the movie.”

Her comments were clearly meant as a joke, but the rumor about her being removed from the movie had been spreading online. Some YouTubers falsely claimed that Maslany was upset with Marvel for cutting She-Hulk from the film. The story was made up, and Maslany was never actually part of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This rumor gained attention, and some people are still believing she was fired for trying to make the movie too ‘woke.’

Maslany faced online criticism in recent years after her role in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.’ The show received a mixed response when it came out in 2022 due to its unexpected twists and fourth wall breaks. The show’s focus on feminist themes also caused backlash from some viewers, who labeled it as ‘woke’ and part of the so-called ‘M-She-U.’

There is no official word on when Maslany’s Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) will appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios didn’t announce a second season of ‘She-Hulk,’ and the character hasn’t been seen in any other MCU projects since. She-Hulk was considered for a role in ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ but her next appearance may be in an upcoming Avengers movie.

Maslany is clearly having fun with the rumors, even if they are completely false.
