During a recent Twitch livestream with NerdIncorrect, Tatiana Maslany indicated that a second season of ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ may not be on the horizon, as Disney said ‘no, thanks.’
Asked if there would be a second season in the future, Maslany said:
“I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No, thanks.'”
Past Statements About She-Hulk Season 2
In a conversation with ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast, showrunner Jessica Gao likened the situation to having a newborn baby when asked about a second season. Shortly after the season 1 finale, she revealed her insights about ‘She-Hulk’s future, saying:
“I feel like this must be what it feels like for people who have had kids. This is how my favorite kids describe when they have their first baby, and then everybody’s like, are you going to have another kid? And they’re like, I literally just gave birth. I’m in labor in delivery. I just gave birth. I’m still in a hospital bed. Give me a second. And that’s how I feel right now.”
Maslany’s history of playful misdirections and her denying her casting shortly after it was announced also added to the uncertainty.
While the future of She-Hulk remains in limbo, Maslany’s involvement in the MCU is not necessarily at an end. In previous interviews, she expressed interest in exploring her character in other scenarios within the Marvel multiverse. However, her next appearance as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk is yet to be confirmed.
Can She-Hulk Return to the Marvel Universe?
‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘ premiered on Disney+ on August 18, 2022, and marked the conclusion of Phase Four in the MCU. Spanning nine episodes, the show was received positively, especially for Maslany’s portrayal of Jennifer Walters. However, it did face mixed reactions regarding its visual effects.
Despite the initial success and positive reception, the future of She-Hulk in the MCU remains uncertain. As of early 2024, there has been no confirmation from Disney or Marvel Studios about the greenlighting of a second season for the series.
Considering MCU’s selective approach towards renewing its live-action Disney+ shows, with only ‘Loki’ having secured a second season to date, a new season for the show doesn’t seem on the horizon. However, Maslany’s career continues — she is slated to appear in the upcoming film ‘Green Bank.‘
