Reports say that John Rocha and Jeff Sneider recently gave an update on ‘The Batman – Part II’ casting and filming schedule.
According to ComicBookMovie, Matt Reeves is eyeing an undisclosed but big actor to play the film’s main villain. The team is reportedly waiting to start shooting in February 2025, though it may cause conflict with Robert Pattinson’s new project with Christopher Nolan.
Fans speculated over who the film’s antagonist would be ever since the studio confirmed a sequel for 2022’s ‘The Batman.’ Popular picks included Mr. Freeze and the Court of Owls, while many also believed The Penguin, who recently returned in his own spinoff and became the crime boss of Gotham, would lead as the villain.
Reeves confirmed Colin Farrell’s return as Oz Cobb in ‘The Batman – Part II,’ but it’s unclear if he’ll be at the center and other villains will also make appearances.
“The plan is to shoot next year, and we’re finishing up the script now,” the director shared with SFX magazine in September. “Colin [Farrell] will be part of the movie. We’ve shared [the script] as we’ve been going along with DC and the studio and they’re super excited.”
He added, “It doesn’t mean that you won’t see characters that people love. That’s exactly what we want to do. Gentleman Ghost is probably pushed a bit too far for us to be able to find a way to do, but there is a fun way to think about how we would take characters that might push over into a bit of the fantastical and find a way to make sense of that.”
Reeves plans to complete his ‘Batman’ trilogy independently from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. The second installment of his Elseworlds franchise is set for release on October 2, 2026.
