According to a recent update reported by Deadline, Ayo Edebiri of ‘The Bear’ left the upcoming superhero film ‘Thunderbolts.’
As per Deadline, Geraldine Viswanathan stepped in to fill the undisclosed role previously held by Edebiri. Her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project, set for a July 25, 2025 release, is attributed to scheduling conflicts.
This news follows the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, which impacted numerous production schedules across the industry.
Steven Yeun Also Left ‘Thunderbolts’ For the Same Reasons
This isn’t the first cast change for ‘Thunderbolts.’
Earlier, Steven Yeun had to step down from the film, citing similar scheduling issues. He was replaced by Lewis Pullman, best known for his role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ He will portray the character Sentry.

She is set to appear in several upcoming projects, such as ‘Drive-Away Dolls‘ and an untitled comedy starring alongside Margaret Qualley, Will Ferrell, and Reese Witherspoon. Meanwhile, Ayo Edebiri also has some upcoming projects on the way, including ‘Omni Loop,‘ ‘Opus,‘ and ‘Ella McCay.‘
