Eric Kripke confirms that ‘The Boys’ will end after its fifth season.
Kripke told Entertainment Weekly he always planned for the show to last five seasons. He shared that he believes five seasons are enough to tell the full story and keep the show interesting without dragging it out:
“Part of it is such a wonky stupid screenwriter thing but three and five are the big magical numbers for writing. Three is movie acts, TV acts are five. Jokes are a runner of three for five. Five just seems like a good round number. It’s enough to tell the story but also bring it to a climax without wearing out its welcome. It’s been hard because I haven’t been able to tell everyone. I was thrilled to finally be able to get the word out there.”
His previous show ‘Supernatural’ ran for 15 seasons despite his initial five-season plan, but it appears he is determined this time.
He Thinks The Audience Feel Like It’s A Final
Kripke also said that fans would likely think the next season would be the last one after season 4, so it’s the perfect time to wrap things up:
“That was part of my argument: No one can watch this season without feeling at the end like ‘It’s ending next year right?’ So we might as well announce it so people can watch it with that cool epic heading-toward-the-end feeling, which is what I’m hoping for.”
Season 4’s storyline puts the world on the edge of chaos. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to becoming president under the control of the Homelander. Butcher, who has only a few months to live, lost Becca’s son and his job as leader of The Boys. The rest of the team is tired of his lies. With higher stakes than ever, they must come together to save the world.
‘The Boys’ season 4 will start with three episodes on June 13 on Prime Video. New episodes will be released weekly, with the season finale airing on July 18.
