Eric Kripke, creator, executive producer, and showrunner of ‘The Boys,’ spoke to Forbes about the upcoming final season of the series. Production, including both filming and writing, has been ongoing since November. The Amazon Prime Video hit is now entering its fifth and final season.

When asked if the storyline had been adjusted following the U.S. presidential election, Kripke explained, “Yeah, I mean, they’re not all written, by the way. They’re about half-written. I mean, look – things adjust all the time. That happened in season one when like the ‘Me Too’ movement broke in the middle of the season and we had to go back and rethink a lot of things.”

“So, we’re sort of used to this organic movement of the scripts always transforming a little bit, based on what’s happening in the world. So, that doesn’t really scare us. That’s pretty par for the course. You’re always rewriting these things right up until the day before they shoot, and sometimes, the day they shoot. So, we’re used to changing things as the world changes – but yes, we definitely adjust scripts as new events come to light.”

Kripke was then shared if the narrative could potentially shift further as current events unfold. He stated, “No, we have in terms of the big picture of the story, like it stays the same. I mean, especially in the final season when every character has to reach their climax – like we’ve had those in our back pocket for a while and this season is mostly just figuring out how to get there, you know? So, it’s more like the stuff that the characters talk about that’s happening in society and some of the joke targets we’re taking, and some of that stuff changes, but the main bones of it stays pretty similar.”

New set photos from the final season of ‘The Boys’ have been shared online, offering fans a glimpse at some of the new superheroes joining the story. These include the introduction of the Teenage Kix team, a parody of groups like the Young Avengers and ‘Teen Titans.’ In the comics, members of this team include Big Game, Jetstreak, Hyperion, Shout Out, and Mesme, alongside familiar faces like A-Train, Sister Sage, and the late Popclaw.

Additional photos reveal advertisements for Vought camps displayed on buses, hinting at the company’s continued influence.

The returning cast includes Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, Jensen Ackles, Paul Reiser, and Karl Urban. Newcomers will feature Mason Dye as Bombsight and Daveed Diggs in an undisclosed role. Jessie T. Usher also confirmed her return, sharing a cast dinner photo on Instagram.

According to Deadline, Mason Dye from ‘Stranger Things’ will play Bombsight in the fifth and last season of ‘The Boys.’ More details are not available yet, but Bombsight was mentioned in ‘The Boys’ as the third oldest superhero who was active in the 1950s.

Season 4 ended with A-Train joining ‘The Boys’ to help take down Antony Starr’s ‘Homelander.’ Season 5 is expected to explore ‘Homelander’ seeking revenge for A-Train’s betrayal while the vigilantes continue their mission to dismantle his control over Vought and the United States.

Filming is anticipated to continue into mid-2025. According to Karl Urban, the show is unlikely to return until 2026.
