Showrunner Eric Kripke addressed the backlash surrounding the latest season of ‘The Boys.’
Some fans criticized the show by claiming it became ‘woke’ after the reveal of Frenchie’s sexuality. Eric Kripke responded by sharing a still from season 3 that hinted at Frenchie’s sexuality. He implied that this was not a sudden change:
“Just putting this here. ‘The Boys’ Season 3.”

Fans Wanted To See Frenchie With Kimiko
Fans noticed hints about Frenchie’s sexuality in previous seasons. Frenchie was shown in an open relationship with Jay and Cherie in season 2. He also joked about being open-minded during a scene with Mother’s Milk. Actor Tomer Capone even said that ‘Frenchie loves everything.’
Some fans were still upset because Frenchie did not end up with Kimiko, who he was romantically involved with in earlier seasons. ‘The Boys” fourth season received a 95% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes but has a lower audience score of 50%, due to review-bombing from fans.
Eric Kripke also shared his plans for the series. He confirmed that ‘The Boys’ will end after its fifth season, and this was what he always intended. Kripke assured fans that the ending would be exciting, but didn’t reveal who would come out on top.
The fourth episode of season 4 is set to be released on June 20. ‘The Boys’ is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
