The Boys’ Valorie Curry Asks Fans To Stop Making Her Feel Uncomfortable

The actress asks fans to respect her boundaries after an unsettling experience at a fan event.

Valorie Curry came across two fans who aggressively questioned her about Firecracker’s controversial scenes in ‘The Boys’ at last weekend’s Belfast Comic-Con. She posted an Instagram video to share the incident and make her ‘boundaries’ at such events clear.

“We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behavior,” the actress said. “I know people saw a character that I played do some really extreme things on ‘The Boys’ and I don’t care if you’re in costume, I don’t care if you’re in character – it’s not OK and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not OK.”

Her words continued, “Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t OK and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry. I didn’t think this needed to be explained but I was deeply uncomfortable – it was quite clear I was uncomfortable.”

Curry added that she ‘really enjoys meeting fans’ at conventions but won’t be doing so ‘if people are acting this way.’ She thanked ‘respectful and kind’ fans while asking the others to ‘think about what’s appropriate and professional and kind’ before talking to her.

The actress joined ‘The Boys’ as Firecracker in Season 3. The right-wing antagonist tried to win favor with Homelander (Antony Starr) through extreme measures since then.

Curry talked about how different she, a lesbian, was from her anti-gay character in previous interviews despite feeling ‘connected’ with her on some level.

“It sounds so gross to say, but I really connected with her right off the bat,” the actress shared with THR in June. “It should be somebody from the community who’s getting to make a clown out of her. So there isn’t any ambiguity. As an actor, our first job isn’t to judge our characters. Right or wrong, she’s someone who believes she’s been marginalized.”

Still, she hoped the ‘horrible’ Supe to face consequences and die in the show’s final season.
