British actress, writer, and activist Jameela Jamil shared a statement through Instagram Stories on June 13 and criticized the diet products and weight loss companies for unproper wording in products:
“(…) weight loss companies have to stop using words like SKINNY in their product name. That is a word that is highly toxic as it pertains to the ideal that we should ALL be skin and bone only. It’s a fatphobic term.”
‘The Good Place’ star also expressed her support to the ‘Body Positivity’ movement and argued that there is no ideal body type:
“Some people are naturally very very thin, there is nothing wrong with their bodies, but they are not the only standard of beauty.”
One of BBC’s 100 Women, Jamil concluded her words with a forceful message:
“All bodies are beautiful.”
Besides, in the previous day, Jamil had warned their follower not to use any kind of weight loss & diet products even if the influencers and celebrities promote them and added:
“People can call me annoying all day long, doesn’t change the fact that there has been a HUGE reduction in influencers and celebrities selling diet products over the past year since I started making it globally embarrassing to do so, and prodding at anyone who did until they stopped.”
