‘The Running Man’ Officially Cast ‘Ant-Man’ Actress Katy O’Brian In Addition To Glen Powell

The upcoming film will be based on the 1982 Stephen King novel of the same name, which takes place in a future where a totalitarian government uses deadly game shows to keep the population distracted.

‘Love Lies Bleeding’ star Katy O’Brian will join Glen Powell in Paramount’s upcoming ‘The Running Man,’ according to recent news from The Hollywood Reporter. Edgar Wright will direct and co-write the movie alongside Michael Bacall.

The announcement followed O’Brian’s addition to Paramount’s eighth ‘Mission: Impossible’ installment and her collaboration with Powell in Lee Isaac Chung’s ‘Twisters.’

The studio revealed the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor as the lead for ‘The Running Man’ back in April. He will now share the screen with O’Brian—as one of the contestants trying to survive a violent TV show.

The film will also serve as a remake of the 1987 original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Richard Dawson, Yaphet Kotto, and Jesse Ventura, but according to Powell, it will be better.

“I’ve been an Edgar Wright fan my whole life, and talking to him about ‘Running Man,’ what’s been really incredible is his take on it. It’s very much not the original [Arnold] Schwarzenegger flick, it’s much more grounded in the Stephen King [novella] version,” the actor shared with USA Today in June.

‘The Running Man’ will hit the screen on November 21, 2025. Simon Kinberg, Nira Park, and Edgar Wright will produce.
