Despite his success in the ‘Twilight’ series, some of his other projects have not received the same acclaim. Here are five films where Lautner took on leading roles, yet they received some of the lowest ratings on IMDb.

5. The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl – IMDb: 3.7

Despite its 3D technology mirroring the one used in ‘Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over,’ 2005’s ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D‘ failed to impress. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Taylor Lautner alongside Taylor Dooley, Cayden Boyd, and David Arquette, the movie struggled critically and commercially. Despite a $50 million budget, it only managed a global box office haul of $72 million. Critics were towards the film’s 3-D effects and overall execution, leading to a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an IMDb score of just 3.7.

4. Shadow Fury – IMDb: 3.8

Next up is ‘Shadow Fury,‘ a 2001 action/science-fiction film marking Taylor Lautner’s feature film debut. This Japanese release, involving a plot of bio-ethical chaos spurred by human cloning, received a negative reception with an IMDb rating of 3.8. Despite its futuristic theme, the film didn’t resonate with audiences and got a 25% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

3. The Ridiculous 6 – IMDb: 4.8

2015 saw Lautner in ‘The Ridiculous 6,‘ a Western action comedy directed by Frank Coraci. Despite a star-studded cast including Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider, the film didn’t fare well, receiving a 0% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Released on Netflix, the film was criticized for not living up to the potential of its ensemble cast, its offensive humor, and lack of creative direction.

2. Abduction – IMDb: 5.1

Abduction,‘ a 2011 action thriller directed by John Singleton, saw Lautner in the lead role but failed to make an impact. Garnering a mere 5% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 25/100 on Metacritic, the film was criticized for its lackluster script and performances. Despite a worldwide gross of $82 million against a $35 million budget, the film’s reception was overwhelmingly negative, with critics pointing out Lautner’s underwhelming performance.

1. Run the Tide – IMDb: 5.2

Run the Tide‘ is a 2016 drama with Lautner playing Rey Hightower. Directed by Soham Mehta, the film is about the complexities of familial relationships. However, it did not resonate well with audiences and critics, receiving an 11% Rotten Tomatoes score and 33/100 on Metacritic. The film was criticized for failing to leave a lasting impression despite its attempt to explore deep emotional themes.
