Italian actor Matilda De Angelis, best known for her portrayal as ‘Elena Alves‘ in HBO’s fan-favorite series ‘The Undoing,’ got candid about her struggle with her skin.
De Angelis shared a short and unfiltered video of herself through Instagram Stories with the note, “Acne is okay,” on December 28. With the post, the young actor inspired a great number of people, struggling with severe acne.
Prior to that post, the 25-year-old took to her Instagram back on December 15, posted a photo of herself without make-up, and added a lengthy caption to say that acne is just a skin condition, not a thing to being ashamed of. In her own words:
“There are things that cannot be controlled and this year taught us well. There are changes that we must accept in our lives and with them, the perception of ourselves and the world around us. Paradoxical things happen in life don’t they?”
Then the star, who is gearing up to appear in the upcoming film, ‘Across The River and Into The Trees,’ added that living with acne is not always easy, especially for an actor just like her:
“Well, for me, being an actress and working with a face eaten by acne is one of them. Every day I have to wake up and present myself first in front of the mirror and then in front of the camera with all the emotional load that already entails and being ‘splendid’, ‘in part’ and concentrated together with all my fears and insecurities literally on the skin.”
Stating there are much bigger problems in life, De Angelis stated she desired to share her feelings regarding that skin condition to feel stronger. She concluded her message:
“Our fears can paralyze us or they can become a great force, it is up to us to choose the path. And to practice so much gratitude for all the good things that happen to us and maybe even for the bad ones.”
De Angelis is not the only star revealing her struggle with severe acne; days ago, Keke Palmer also released a series of make-up-free selfies through Instagram to slam the beauty standards and to say that acne is okay.
