Jared Padalecki recently told Variety that The CW ended ‘The Walker’ earlier this year due to a ‘different direction’ with their content. He criticized the decision and described the network’s new projects as ‘cheap:’
“I feel like The CW that I was a part of last year is not The CW that I was a part of under [former chairman and CEO] Mark Pedowitz for that entire, almost 20-year stretch. They’re just changing the network around, where it’s not really going to be a TV network as much as it’s going to be, ‘Here’s something fun for an hour that you’ll never watch again, but hopefully you watch it. And it’s cheap!’”
The ‘Supernatural’ actor added:
“And I hate to say that, but I’m just being honest. I mean, f**k it. They can’t fire me again. I’m just being brutally honest. I think it felt to me like they were looking for really easy, cheap content that they could fill up time with.”
The Actor’s Farewell To The Show
Padalecki played Cordell Walker in the 2021 reboot of ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ for four seasons. The cast included Molly Hagan, Keegan Allen, Violet Brinson, Kale Culley, Odette Annabelle, and Ashley Reyes.
After the show’s cancellation, the lead actor posted a goodbye to the cast and crew on Instagram:
“Howdy, y’all. It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. Walker will not be airing on CW for a fifth season. It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the Walker Family that has been built, both on set and off. After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire Walker Family, and we will be forever grateful.”
He May Return In Another Project
Now, Eric Kripke is trying to recruit Jared Padalecki for the final season of ‘The Boys.’ Padalecki confirmed that he was up for an appearance in the show in a recent Deadline interview:
“The answer is yes. We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric [Kripke] and I are indelibly connected forever.”
The actor’s ‘Supernatural’ co-stars, Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, already joined ‘The Boys’ cast in the third and fourth seasons. Season 4 is now airing on Prime Video.
