Dreamworks Animation confirmed that ‘The Wild Robot’ is getting a sequel.
Director Chris Sanders shared the news during Deadline’s Contenders Series on October 12. He revealed that the studio is already working on the next installment. “100% yes there are absolutely plans for a second one,” Sanders mused.
‘The Wild Robot’ is based on Peter Brown’s bestselling children’s book. It’s been performing well at the box office, earning over $100 million globally in its first few weeks. The movie entered theaters at a time when ‘Transformers One’ was also competing for attention, but it managed to find its audience.
The film received positive reviews so far. Sanders says the entire crew was highly passionate about creating ‘The Wild Robot.’ “This was a labor of love on the part of everybody at the studio, and yes, I think I’d love to go and stay here for a while,” he admits.
‘The Wild Robot’ is doing well in theaters and fans are enjoying the movie.
