American filmmaker Joel Schumacher, who directed legendary movies such as ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ ‘The Lost Boys,’ and ‘Flatliners’ died on June 22 when he was 80 years old.
A representative announced to the Hollywood Reporter that Schumacher died from cancer, in New York City.
The victorious director, who helmed the movies ‘A Time to Kill,’ ‘Falling Down‘, and ‘Batman & Robin,’ brought unique dressing and costume design to movies he created.
As a well-known talent scout Joel Schumacher, also paved the way for many actors to improve their careers in the film sector, such as Colin Farrell, Kiefer Sutherland, and Matthew McConaughey.
This loss devastated the entire film industry and many actors & actresses, filmmakers, and set workers took their social media channels and offered condolence.
Actor and filmmaker Alex Winter were one of them; he made the following statement through Twitter and expressed his sorrow:
“Joel was a creative genius; a master at clothing design, costuming, writing, and of course directing. Joel saw something in me as an actor I didn’t see and gave me the confidence and space to pursue it. Unfairly savaged by critics his entire career, his great work will live on.”
