‘Thor’ Actor Chris Hemsworth Shares Health Update After Alzheimer’s Findings

Hemsworth has a genetic risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

In a new Instagram post, Chris Hemsworth talked about his health after Alzheimer’s findings.

“Really enjoyed meeting Dr. Adeel Khan. His work with MUSE cells – an incredible type of regenerative stem cell, is unique,” the actor started his statement, sharing a photo with his doctor.

He continued, “The fact that he collaborates directly with Professor Mari Dezawa, who pioneered these cells, made me feel confident that I was in the hands of someone at the very forefront of regenerative medicine.”

Hemsworth found out he has a high genetic risk for Alzheimer’s while filming ‘Limitless’ last year. This situation makes him ‘eight to 10 times more likely’ to get the disease. Rumors began that he might already have Alzheimer’s and might soon retire. After learning of his risk, the actor took a break from Hollywood to rest and lower his stress.

“It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this,” he shared with Vanity Fair. “No matter how much I said, ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia, and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on.”

Chris also told Body + Soul magazine, “The imagined scenario is always worse than the reality. But it definitely made me pause and think about my future. I used to have the mentality that if I’m not crawling out of the gym, I haven’t worked hard enough.”

He added, “But I’m also listening to my body more, being patient with the process, and not just smashing myself in every single session. I would go from job to job and be stressed. I was always giving an extra 20 percent of my time. Sometimes it just ended up being excessive, and sometimes it had diminishing returns.”

“There may be a project I’d love, but doing it means less time at home. Alternatively, I can see that I’ve been at home enough to feel like I’m not going to go to work and be full of guilt that I should be home,” Hemsworth also stated.

The actor spent last year recovering from a back injury he got while filming ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’ Now, he’s reportedly back and working on ‘Crime 101’ with his friend Mark Ruffalo.
