Tom Hanks Reportedly in Talks to Play ‘Geppetto’ In ‘Pinocchio’

American actor and filmmaker Tom Hanks, who is regarded as American cultural icon, reportedly entered negotiations with Disney to represent ‘Geppetto’ in an upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘Pinocchio.’

According to the news released by Variety, the ‘Saving Private Ryan’ actor got involved in the project in 2018, when ‘Paddington’ director, Paul King was on board to direct the movie. However, King was replaced by ‘Back to the Future’ director, Robert Zemeckis last year. After that, the negotiations began again.

According to the news obtained by Deadline, Hanks reached out to the new director, Zemeckis, and stated that he wants to do the film. As might be remembered, Zemeckis and Hanks worked together on ‘Forrest Gump’ and they established a long-standing relationship after that.

For this new age ‘Pinocchio,’ the well-known film director, screenwriter, and producer Chris Weitz is penning the script.

As for the release date of the movie has not announced yet.
