Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth led ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ under George Miller’s directorship. ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star Tom Hardy shared his thoughts about the newly-released movie in a recent chat with Variety. He said:
“I’m sure that ‘Furiosa’ will be a tremendous success, as rightly George, Anya, and Chris well deserve. I’m a huge ‘Mad Max’ fan, and ‘Fury Road’ fan and ‘Furiosa’ fan. I haven’t seen the film, but I know it’s bound to be special because it’s come from George.”
The Prequel Is Not Doing Well
‘Furiosa’ featured Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Jacob Tomuri, and Angus Sampson along with Hemsworth and Taylor-Joy. The film didn’t meet box office expectations despite generally positive reviews. It earned $160.1 million worldwide on a budget of $168 million.
The prequel’s performance fell short of the previously-released ‘Fury Road.’ The 2015 movie was a commercial success with $379.4 million worldwide.
Hardy’s Max In ‘Fury Road’
Tom Hardy replaced Mel Gibson as Max in ‘Fury Road’ opposite Charlize Theron’s Furiosa. He shared about working on the post-apocalyptic action:
“‘Fury Road’ was a great experience, and it absolutely was one of the most important things that ever happened to me in my career, ever. I’m grateful for that. And I think George Miller is a genius, and the whole crew with everybody was amazing. I learned an awful lot on that film.”
George Miller was considering another prequel titled ‘The Wasteland’ to delve more into Max’s story next. But the project’s future may be at risk due to the poor reception of ‘Furiosa.’
