‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ is coming to Netflix on October 10, 2024. Showrunner Tasha Huo says that the show will explore Lara Croft’s backstory and even hint at the next ‘Tomb Raider’ video game.
As per Entertainment Weekly‘s report, the show ties directly into the upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ game. Huo and her team worked with Crystal Dynamics to make sure everything fit with the next installment of the franchise. Huo confirmed that some clues about what will happen in the next game are included in the series. “The show is such an easy slot between the next game and where we came from,” she said.
Tasha Huo said that she and her team made sure the show stays true to what fans love about Lara Croft. Some fans may worry that the show might be too modern, but Huo reassures them, saying, “I just want the fans to know that this is the show that we’ve all been waiting for as fans. It feeds into all the stuff we love from the original games. This is a show made by fans, from top to bottom.”
She added that they went through ‘Tomb Raider’ archives to stay close to the storylines.
Huo didn’t share specific details about the plot, but she said that the series will have a mix of characters from the games and new ones. Some of these characters will play an important role in Lara’s development as she faces new challenges. The show will also dig into parts of Lara’s life that were not clearly explained in the games.
The series takes place between the events of the ‘Survivor’ trilogy of games (‘Tomb Raider’ from 2013, ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ from 2015, and ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ from 2018) and the original ‘Tomb Raider’ game from 1996. We will get to see how Lara transforms from a troubled young woman into the brave character we know from the games.
‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ will debut next month.
