Actress Tori Spelling shared that she has two placentas stored in her freezer but isn’t sure which child’s placentas they are.
Spelling shared this surprising fact on her misSPELLING podcast, saying:
“Unsure which child. So unless I have the biggest placenta in the world, there are two vats in there. And this is normal. Because there’s all that fancy stuff. They say it’s good luck to eat it, or it’s good luck to bury it, or it’s good luck to have it sent and made into that powder, and they put it into pills. I’m just too lazy to send it out.”
She Has a Placenta at Her Friend’s House Too
Spelling also apologized to her best friend Jess for storing her younger son Beau’s placenta in Jess’s freezer:
“I’m really sorry to my best friend Jess because he is still in her freezer. Because I had a C-section and complications, we had to stay in the hospital for a bit, and I said, ‘Jess, can you take the placenta home? They’ve given it to me, and I don’t know what to do with it.’ [Like a] proper best friend does, [she] did take it home.”
Jess has been keeping it for seven years and reminded Spelling a few times to take it back, but Spelling always responds, ‘Next time I’m there.’
Spelling Already Ate One With Ex-Husband
Spelling shared another unusual detail in the podcast: she and her ex-husband, Dean McDermott, once ate a placenta together. In the end, she found it tasty:
“Dean’s an amazing chef. He cooked it and seasoned it. And it was actually really good. My mom taught me when I was young, ‘Try everything once. If you don’t like it, you don’t eat it again.’ And I believe in that philosophy.”
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott separated in March after 18 years of marriage, and they have five children together. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns against eating placentas, even in capsule form.
