2022’s ‘Morbius’ did not do well at the box office, but Tyrese Gibson is eager to return if a sequel is made.
Gibson recently talked with CBR about his hopes for ‘Morbius 2.’ He said he’s excited to return for a possible sequel to play Simon Stroud once again:
“I don’t know, man, I’m waiting on the call. I would be honored to dance with Daniel Espinosa and the crew again, [and] Jared Leto, yeah, I would love it. I would love it if that opportunity presented itself, yeah.”
‘Morbius’ did not perform well at the global box office. It gained more popularity after being released on streaming platforms.
He’s Disappointed About Cut Scenes
Gibson also said several of his scenes were cut from the final version of ‘Morbius.’ He said that he filmed important scenes (including a fight with Matt Smith’s character) but they were removed during post-production. One of these scenes showed his character with a metallic arm, and it took hours to prepare each day. Gibson is upset that these scenes were left out:
“The arm was in the trailer, and I definitely had to put that thing on for at least two to three hours a day in the make-up trailer, so, I don’t know. It felt like it went from ‘This is what we’re going to do,’ to some type of issues that they had in post-production. Something. I don’t know. I definitely did a lot of scenes that was chopped out of the movie. I had a full-on fight, and brawl, with the villain, Matt Smith. I had a full-on fight scene with Matt Smith in London, where we filmed at a park, and it was crazy. And my arm was all over that scene.”
Fans are not so sure about a sequel happening. Many took to social media to share their doubts, with comments like, ‘He’s gonna be waiting an eternity for that phone call,’ and ‘He does realize that Morbius is never getting a sequel. Right?’
There are no official announcements about ‘Morbius 2’ yet, and Gibson is promoting his new project, ‘Bloodline Killer.’ You can watch its trailer below.
