‘Velma’ Returns With Season 2 Despite Negative Reviews

‘Velma’ is returning with more episodes on April 25.

According to Max’s recent tweet, ‘Velma’ is coming back for a second season.

‘Velma’s first season received an overwhelmingly negative response from fans. However, Max recently announced that they decided to make a second season for the show. They also revealed other new shows and movies coming on Max for this month:

“Not a joke. All new movies, series, and shows coming your way this April on Max.”

You can see the tweet below.

Why ‘Velma’ Season 1 Received So Much Hate?

Velma‘ first came out on January 12, 2023, and got a lot of people talking. This wasn’t your usual Scooby-Doo adventure — it made Velma Dinkley the star. The show also changed up the rest of the team and gave them new backgrounds that are very different from what fans are used to.

It is the first time a Scooby-Doo series is meant for adults and doesn’t include Scooby-Doo himself. Mindy Kaling (who you might know from ‘The Office’) brings Velma to life. The show also broke records as the most-watched new cartoon on Max despite the negative reception.

‘Velma’ will have new episodes on Max starting April 25, 2024.

No new Scooby-Doo movies or TV shows have been announced for 2024 yet. Still, something might be on the way — Matthew Lillard recently mentioned working on a project to bring Shaggy back.
