Vincent D’Onofrio Reveals His Dream DCU Role

The actor set his sights on joining the DC Universe as an anti-hero.

Vincent D’Onofrio made his mark as Marvel’s Kingpin in 2015’s ‘Daredevil,’ 2021’s ‘Hawkeye,’ and 2024’s ‘Echo.’ The actor will soon reprise the role in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ series, but he has his eyes on a potential DC role as well.

“These days, I don’t know why, …I don’t know if you guys are into DC like I am,” D’Onofrio recently said during a Q&A at Dragon Con. “Obviously I like Marvel too because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid [were] Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp-Thing. I would really like to play Swamp-Thing.”

DC Studios has a ‘Swamp-Thing’ movie in the works, with the title role still open. James Mangold will direct the film, which will be a part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

“While I’m sure DC views ‘Swamp Thing’ as a franchise, I would be viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster,” the filmmaker shared with Variety last year. “[I have been] toying for years with the idea of making a kind of Frankenstein movie.”

‘Swamp-Thing’ still has no release date. Mangold is currently busy with his Bob Dylan biopic while attached to a future ‘Star Wars’ film exploring the origins of The Force.
