Speaking to TV Insider, Walker Scobell recently opened up about his mixed feelings toward the potential second season of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians.’ Despite the uncertainty surrounding the show’s renewal, Scobell shared his personal concerns and expectations for what lies ahead.
During the conversation, Scobell revealed the source of his nervousness. Looking back on the first season, he detailed the challenges he faced while filming his last scenes:
“My last day was all the underwater stuff. In Episode 4, after I fall off the [St. Louis] arch, and then in Episode 6, when I talk to the naiad, that was my last two days, completely underwater. Those were really fun, but I’m a little bit nervous for next season because — since I have to keep my eyes open [while filming underwater], on the second day, my eyes really started burning — I’ll probably have to do a week of that.”
Despite these challenges, Scobell is looking forward to the potential of filming more scenes outdoors in direct sunlight. He humorously spoke of his desire to spend more time outside to avoid looking ‘transparent.’
Will There Be a Season 2 for ‘Percy Jackson’?
While the series has not yet been officially renewed for a second season, the work has reportedly begun.
Since its development began in May 2020, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ has been a collaborative effort, with Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg at the helm. The series, which premiered on December 19, 2023, has been praised for its faithful adaptation of the book series.
Each season of the series is planned to adapt one book from Riordan’s series. The show’s creators have also begun laying the groundwork for the second season, with writing efforts already underway as of March 2023, although there isn’t a formal green light.
The show also needs to recast the role of Zeus following the passing of Lance Reddick. The showrunners Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz recently shared their intention to respect Reddick’s legacy while finding a new actor to step into the role, which you can read more about here.
As for Scobell, his IMDb profile hints at an upcoming project titled ‘Blood Knot.‘
