‘Wandavision’s Elizabeth Olsen Insists She Had ‘No Idea’ About Robert Downey’s Return As Doctor Doom

Downey rejoined the MCU as a villain after years of playing Iron Man and saying goodbye to him in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Elizabeth Olsen spoke about Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom during a recent interview with The Standard. The actress, who worked with Downey on several Marvel projects since her debut in 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ said she had no clue about his return until people began asking her about it.

“Lots of people were texting me saying, ‘I can’t believe this about Downey, did you know?’ and I was like, ‘I have no idea what you’re taking about’ and had to go on the internet to find out,” she admitted. “There’s a Marvel brain that just lets us know [when a new movie or TV series is in train].”

Downey’s other co-stars were also unaware of his return until he made a surprise appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con dressed as Doctor Doom. “I had no idea. The son of a b*tch didn’t say anything to me,” Jeremy Renner revealed in a chat with US Weekly in August.

“We’re good friends. There’s the Avengers family chat. The original six. He said not a peep. I got online and started blowing up his phone like, ‘What’s going on? You’ve been hiding this from us the whole time?’ It’s exciting news. I’m really, really excited about it.”

RDJ is now set to play Doom in upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ with a rumored appearance in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ Olsen and Renner are also expected to reprise their roles in these films, but nothing is confirmed yet.
