The highly expected American biographical drama film about Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party, ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ will be released in the United States in 2021, Warner Bros. Pictures announced.
The verified Instagram account for Warner Bros. Pictures included the official poster of the movie, which directed and produced by Shaka King, and added the following note as a caption:
“Judas and the Black Messiah – a movie about the betrayal and assassination of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party – only in theaters 2021. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah”
As remember, the film was scheduled to be released on August 21, 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to the next year.
Also producer Charles D. King stated regarding the movie & release date through his verified Instagram account:
“For the culture, for the revolution! Can’t wait for the world to see Shaka King’s film and the electrifying performances by this brilliant cast. In theaters 2021.”
In the film, ‘Skins’ star Daniel Kaluuya portrays Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton while ‘Dope’ actor Lakeith Stanfield represents petty criminal William O’Neal. The other cast members are as follows: Jesse Plemons as Roy Mitchell, Dominique Fishback as Deborah Johnson, Ashton Sanders as Larry Roberson, Martin Sheen as J. Edgar Hoover, Algee Smith as Jake Winters, Lil Rel Howery as Brian and Jermaine Fowler as Mark Clark.
