Warner Bros. has just released the full trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s ‘Beetlejuice.’
In the trailer for ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,’ we see Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) returning to Winter River, Vermont. She is there with her mother, Delia (Catherine O’Hara), and her daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), for her father’s funeral. It’s confirmed that Charles Deetz (Lydia’s father) has died.
Lydia starts to remember her past encounters with Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton). She tells Astrid about these experiences, and Astrid accidentally summons Betelgeuse by saying his name three times.
This time, Betelgeuse and Lydia must team up to rescue Astrid. She’s been taken by Betelgeuse’s ex-wife, Dolores (Monica Bellucci), and an ‘afterlife cop’ named Wolf Jackson (Willem Dafoe).

Keaton Wasn’t Interested In Returning To The Role
Tim Burton told Entertainment Weekly it was great to see Michael Keaton return to his role. He said Keaton quickly got back into playing Betelgeuse, but he wasn’t initially very interested in returning:
“He just got back into it. It was kind of scary for somebody who was maybe not that overly interested in doing it. It was such a beautiful thing for me to see all the cast, but he, sort of like demon possession, just went right back into it. Unless it felt right, he had no burning desire to do it. I think we all felt the same way. It only made sense if it had an emotional hook.”
The story involves three generations of the Deetz family dealing with a family tragedy. Lydia Deetz, who can sense paranormal activity, starts seeing Betelgeuse again. Betelgeuse wants to marry Lydia, but things get complicated when his dead wife comes back to life and starts looking for him. Meanwhile, Lydia’s teenage daughter starts a romance with a local teen.
‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ will hit theaters on September 6, 2024. The script was written by ‘Wednesday’s Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
