‘Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega On Johnny Depp Dating Rumors: ‘I Don’t Know That Person’

The actress responded to the romance rumors with Depp.

Jenna Ortega cited an alleged romance between her and Johnny Depp as the craziest rumor about her so far during an appearance on Buzzfeed’s Puppy Interview.

“It’s so insane to me. Like, I never spoke on that,” she said of the headlines claiming she wanted privacy for their relationship. “I never said anything like that. Articles really do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that that was pretty hilarious.”

Rumors spread around last summer when a celebrity gossip account reported that Ortega and Depp were seen on a date. The actress quickly denied the claims through an Instagram story that has since expired, but the talk even reached the set of A24’s ‘Death of a Unicorn.’

“I was on set with Richard E. Grant, and he came up to me and he just said, ‘Oh, so you and Johnny?’ And I laughed because I… I don’t know that person,” the ‘Wednesday’ actress mentioned.

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star also issued a statement to set the record straight on the matter. “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever,” his representatives noted.

“He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”

News also suggested that Depp and Ortega would star in the upcoming ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ together, but it was false, as well. The cast featured Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe as newcomers instead.

The sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic will see release on September 6.
