Wendell Pierce of ‘The Wire’ and ‘Jack Ryan’ will star in the new ‘Superman’ movie as Perry White, and he’s pretty excited about it.
Pierce recently talked about his new role on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers.’ He also stated that he didn’t read Superman comics when he was younger. So, he has been learning about Perry White from his friends. He’s new to the whole superhero world, but it seems that doesn’t stop him from being super excited to be a part of it:
“The great James Gunn is directing that film. That’s what I hear. You may know more about it than I do! I’m looking forward to this. I never grew up reading comics, so I relied on my friends to tell me about it. I’m excited about this, you know.”
Perry White is the boss at the Daily Planet, the place where Superman works as Clark Kent when he’s not saving the world. Pierce trusts Gunn and believes he is amazing at what he does.

Gunn Says We’ll Soon See The Superman Suit
‘Superman’ won’t be out until July 11, 2025, but people are already talking about it a lot. There have been some sneak peeks like pictures of The Engineer, but fans are really waiting to see what Superman’s new suit will look like. Gunn sadly said it’s still too soon to show the suit:
“[Not] yet for a bit… but soon enough and it’s oh so good!!”
Gunn even said that he feels a bit like Superman sometimes:
“I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien but also the ultimate insider because he’s f*cking Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”
In this new movie, we’ll see Superman trying to figure out how to be both a hero and a regular guy named Clark Kent. But don’t worry — they’re not going to tell the story of how he came to Earth from his planet. We’re jumping straight into his life in the big city.
