‘What If…?’ Season 3 Trailer Drops Major Twist With Storm, But It’s Time For Some ‘Real’ X-Men

Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Marvel Animation’s What If…? season 3.

It’s been confirmed that when ‘What If…?’ returns to Disney+ on December 22, a new episode will air every day for eight days.

‘What If…?’ season 3 will feature the debut of Storm, the Goddess of Thunder, who appears at the end of a sneak peek, voiced by ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ and ‘X-Men‘ ’97 star Alison Sealy-Smith.

Season 3 includes popular characters like Captain America/Sam Wilson, The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes, Hulk/Bruce Banner, The Red Guardian, Captain Peggy Carter, Agatha Harkness, Shang-Chi, Storm the Goddess of Thunder, and many others.

Episodes of ‘What If…? season 3 are directed by Bryan Andrews and Stephan Franck and are written by Matthew Chauncey, Ryan Little, and A.C. Bradley.

Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ after Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019. As a result, mutants can now appear in MCU movies and shows.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in an interview with Variety, “I wouldn’t say when, but we’ve already hinted over the past few years at certain individuals possessing what will one day be known as the mutant gene. We’ll be very excited when we tap into it.”

Meanwhile, a new ‘X-Men’ movie has been anticipated since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. The possibility of the ‘X-Men’ joining the MCU has been discussed and teased many times, yet little has materialized. Instead, Storm is now set to appear as Thor’s counterpart in ‘What If…?’
