When Netflix Releases ‘Money Heist’ Season 5? Is It Final Season?

There is a piece of good news regarding the ‘Money Heist’ season 5; it is now official that the filming on the series fifth season has wrapped as of the date of May 14. So, very soon, the series, ‘La Casa De Papel,’ will hit Netflix with its new and highly-expected season.

As known, the series, starring Úrsula Coberó (as ‘Tokyo’), Álvaro Morte ( as ‘The Professor’), Itziar Ituño (as ‘Lisbon’), Pedro Alonso (as ‘Berlin’), Miguel Herrán (as ‘Rio’), Jaime Lorente (as ‘Denver’), Esther Acebo (as ‘Stockholm’), Enrique Arce (as ‘Arturo’), Darko Peric (as ‘Helsinki’), Hovik Keuchkerian (as ‘Bogotá’), Luka Peros (as ‘Marseille’), and Belén Cuesta (as ‘Manila’), was renewed for season 5 by the streaming giant back in July 2020.

Following the great news had been broken, the filming for the series, which is holding the record of “being the most-watched non-English title on Netflix” began in August 2020. Almost the entire cast released posts in order to deliver the exciting news that they back on the set. After a couple of months, the cast took to their social media accounts to announce that the filming has wrapped finally.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter account for the series, released the following message in order to announce that the filming for ‘Money Heist’ season 5 has come to an end:

“What started as a heist, ended as a family. It’s a wrap on Part 5 of La Casa de Papel / Money Heist. Thank you to all the fans for being part of La Resistencia! We can’t wait to show you how this story ends.”

Even though there is no exact release date, it is likely that ‘Money Heist’ season 5 will air on Netflix in October.

Is the fifth season the final season of ‘Money Heist’ ?

As Netflix announced that the filming for season 5 had started, the streaming giant also declared that the new season will be the final season as well. The news was delivered through social media accounts with the following words: “The heist comes to an end.”

What’s more, the creator and director of the series, Álex Pina confirmed the news that season 5 will be the final installment of the series. However, he also heralded that there will be spin-offs. Here is the statement:

“We have many opportunities for spin-offs. This is due to the strong identities of the characters. We’ve always looked for characters that are complex, so I think almost every character has a side that we would like to see in a spin-off.

What will happen in ‘Money Heist’ Season 5?

Álex Pina, the director, gave the fans a sneak peek of the storyline of the Spanish series; in a press statement he said:

“We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropess. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.”

As Pina stated, season 5 will be full of surprises; what’s more, it was officially announced that there will be two new cast members. As one of them is ‘Sense8’ alum Miguel Ángel Silvestre and the other one is ‘Yo so Bea’ actor José Manuel Seda. Besides, the character which died in previous episodes, ‘Nairobi’ will be returning for ‘La Casa De Papel’ season 5.

In a recent interview, Pina also stated that the gang “will now be pushed into irreversible situations, into a wild war.” The well-known director promised the fans of the series that season 5 will be “the most epic part of all the parts.
