After two COVID-19 & vaccinations-focused specials, the fans of one of the most-known animated sitcoms worldwide are asking: “Is ‘South Park’ ending?”
As known, within season 24, the latest 2 episodes, which are one hour long, titled ‘The Pandemic Special‘ (back in September) and ‘South ParQ Vaccination Special‘ (back in March) have been released. Following the release of the newest episode on March 10 over on Comedy Central, the fans have been alarmed about when the new episodes come.
According to the latest updates announced by Comedy Central, the series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and developed by Brian Graden has been renewed for new episodes through to 2022, even though there has been no declaration regarding “season 25.”
However, this does not mean “the tenth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time” will not be ending in a couple of years, although its latest episode garnered high praises from fans. In a recent interview, the co-creator Trey said when he was asked whether the series is coming to end or not:
“I don’t think we have ever had an ‘OK, let’s sit down and decide if we are going to keep going’.”
Similarly, the other creator of the series, Matt Stone stated that they are thinking about enjoying a resting period by putting aside the fan-favorite series. In his own words:
“I am 48. Trey turns 50 this year. So I will say that I don’t think we will be doing this show when we’re 60.”
So, it is best for the fans of South Park to prepare themselves for a piece of bad news. For now, we are waiting for new specials within season 24.
