Is there a season 6 of ‘Outlander?’
The series, largely based on the ongoing book series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon was renewed for the sixth season; the exciting news arrived back in March. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts announced the updates by saying that the entire crew is so excited to bring ” the fans one step closer to reuniting with the family back on Fraser’s Ridge.” In the same statement, Roberts added:
“Filming in 2021 has presented an unprecedented set of challenges which led us to the decision to truncate the season in order to bring the fans the most vibrant and dynamic season as soon as possible.”
While the showrunners breaking a piece of good news regarding the well-known TV series developed by Ronald D. Moore, Starz announced that the sixth season of ‘Outlander’ will consist of 8 episodes.
As fans might remember, back in March, it was officially declared that season 6 which is adapted from the novels titled ‘The Fiery Cross‘ and ‘A Breath of Snow and Ashes‘ will be released through 12 episodes. We still do not know the reason for shortening.
What’s the release date of ‘Outlander’ season 6?
The same day when the abovementioned good news announced, a release date for the fantasy-historical-romance series was also declared. Even though there is no “exact date,” it is known that the series starring Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Duncan Lacroix, Sophie Skelton will come out in the early spring of 2022.
In addition to the sixth season, it is also official that there will be a seventh season consisting of 16 episodes. The news was delivered a statement that reads:
“Dinna fash, we will then film an extended season 7 with 16 episodes next year as life returns to normalcy.”
