Will Jim Gordon Finally Join ‘The Penguin’? Jeffrey Wright Has The Answer

The spinoff show wrapped up its first season on November 10, with Gotham PD’s Jim Gordon nowhere to be seen.

‘The Penguin’ Season 1 concluded with a complete story, establishing Oz Cobb as Gotham’s new crime lord and an enemy of Batman. Still, Matt Reeves mentioned after the finale that a second season was possible.

This time, it’s possible for Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon to make an appearance like Con O’Neill’s Mackenzie Bock. The detective didn’t appear in Season 1 because, according to Wright’s recent chat with Inverse, “There was no talk of my being in this first season.”

About a possible comeback in Season 2, the actor said, “Who knows? We’ll see what happens down the line, but I’m juggling enough balls as it is.”

Wright made his debut as Gotham PD’s Chief in the 2022 movie ‘The Batman.’ Since then, he took part in several projects, including Marvel’s ‘What If…?’, Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City,’ and ‘American Fiction.’ Currently, he stars in ‘The Agency’ and is getting ready to reprise his role as Isaac Dixon in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is working on ‘The Batman – Part II.’ Filming for the sequel will start in England in April 2025, with a planned release date of October 2, 2026. Wright will return as Jim Gordon in the movie, along with Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Robert Pattinson as Batman.
