There is a piece of great news for the fans of the breakout comedy co-created by Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky, ‘Hacks.’ According to the news obtained by DEADLINE, streamer HBO Max ordered a second season on June 8, 2021. So, the series became one of the HBO original features to return for another season, alongside ‘The Flight Attendant,’ ‘Love Life,’ and ‘Raised by Wolves.’

The exciting news came two days before its final episode aired. HBO Max’s head of original content, Sarah Aubrey stated regarding the renewal:

“We knew immediately that Lucia, Paul and Jen brought us a winner. We couldn’t be happier about the tremendous response from our viewers and critics alike, and we salute the executive producers; Jean, Hannah and the rest of the brilliant cast; and our partners at Universal,””

As known, the comedy series starring Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins, premiered on HBO Max, on May 13, 2021. In a quite short time, ‘Hacks’ received highly favorable reviews from both audiences and critics. The series, which follows former Los Angeles comedian ‘Deborah Vance’ and her 25-year-old manager ‘Ava Daniels,’ held an approval rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s the release date of ‘Hacks’ season 2?

Although the news regarding the renewal of ‘Hacks’ nor showrunners neither streamer has announced the release date for the second season. However, co-creator, co-showrunner, and star Paul W. Downs gave a piece of clues about what we will see in the ‘Hacks’ season 2:

“I think ultimately, while we don’t know the specifics, what we set out to do in this story is to set Ava, Deborah and everyone in their ecosystem on a road to redemption and emotional happiness. So, I think we want to continue down that path. As you’ve seen in the show, it’s typically one step forward, two steps back, but that’s where the fun and games are.”

It is expected that in addition to main stars – Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins – Mark Indelicato, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Megan Stalter, Rose Abdoo, and Christopher McDonald will reprise their roles in the second season.
