A piece of great news regarding the fan-favorite series ‘Lucifer’: According to the latest updates, the series, which made Tom Ellis a legend, was renewed for season 6! So, yes, there will be a sixth season for the series, whose 5th season is streaming on Netflix.
The exciting announcement came back in June after a couple of campaigns had been set to make producers continue the series. As fans already know, following the news that the series would be ended with its season 5, a great number of fans created petitions and secured over 100K signatures; so, they got the show renewed for season 6.
Regarding the renewal, Joe Henderson who serves as showrunner for the series along with Ildy Modrovich, said in a press statement:
“It will remain exactly the same as we had planned and it was really very, very important to us. When the idea for season 6 came up, Ildy and I said to Netflix, ‘if we do this and we find the right story, the thing we don’t want to do is to undo everything we have done ‘. Once you see Season 5B you will understand how A and B are actually one big season. How it all relates … The things that happen in the Season 5 premiere fit in completely with the ending.”
What’s The Release Date Of ‘Lucifer’ Season 6?
Concerning the release date for season 6, which is set to be a final season, there is no official announcement. However, the filming for the next season started in late September, according to several cast and crew members’ social media posts. The stars, including lead actor Tom Ellis, confirmed that the production had begun.
Back in March, a few cast members jumped into their social media channels and stated that they came to an end of the series’ final episode. When considered all of these, it is possible to say that ‘Lucifer’ season 6 will be available in early 2022.
Who Is Joining The Cast For ‘Lucifer’ Season 6?
While Tom Ellis, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, Kevin Alejandro and Scarlett Estevez are reprising their roles, a couple of names will be joining the cast.
As one of these names, Back in July, D.B. Woodside, who is portraying ‘Amenadiel’ in the series, confirmed that he is returning by releasing a tweet that reads:
“Happy to announce that I will be returning to Lucifer for season 6. Additionally, I will be directing an episode for our final season. This is a beautiful cast. We stand by each other. We fight for one another. So… let’s get to work.”
Meanwhile, Scott Porter took to his verified Twitter account and stated that he will be appearing both in seasons 5 and 6. Apart from them, there will be new guest stars in the sixth season; according to the official announcement, Chris Coy (best known for appearing in ‘The Duece,’ ‘The Front Runner,’ and ‘Detroit’) and Rob Zabrecky (‘A Ghost Story,’ ‘Lost River,’ and ‘Criminal Minds’) and Mandy June Turpin will feature in the series.
