Good news for fans of ‘Wynonna Earp!’ The hit series is coming back with a new 90-minute special called ‘Wynonna Earp: Vengeance.’ Tubi revealed exclusively through Vanity Fair that they’ll be premiering the special, set for release sometime later this year.
While catching up with Melanie Scrofano’s character, the special will bring back other familiar faces. Scrofano will be joined by Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, Dom Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp, and Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught, among others.
Hints At The Overall Plot
In an interview with Vanity Fair, creator Emily Andras hinted at the challenges and intense moments the characters will face in the new episode:
“Doc and Wynonna have been on an adventure, and Waverly and Nicole have been at home in (the Earp hometown of) Purgatory, doing their thing. I think it’s going to be really interesting to see, hopefully, what gets everybody home—maybe facing a challenge they’ve never faced before, something pretty intense. It’s all your favorite—hopefully—character moments, but also a little bit about growing up and sort of, like, being who you are now and earning all your choices.”
Andras wants ‘Wynonna Earp: Vengeance’ to be a ‘gateway drug’ for newbies while appealing to ‘Earpers,’ who previously helped the show get renewed.
The Main Series’ Story
‘Wynonna Earp’ follows the titular character as she sends resurrected criminal souls haunting the Ghost River Triangle back to hell, continuing his great-great-grandfather Wyatt Earp’s legacy.
The series received praise for its storytelling, character development, and touch on social issues during its four-season run. It concluded in 2021, ending on a note that left room for future stories.
Where The Show Left Off
The final episode, ‘Old Souls,’ wrapped up loose ends and saw Wynonna finding peace with her fate beyond demon hunting. She and her love interest, Doc, decided to start anew away from Purgatory.
Wynonna’s sister Waverly also embraced her power and place within the Earp family, marrying Nicole Haught, who became the guardian of the Ghost River Triangle.
