As per Deadline, Caleb Landry Jones is set to star as Count Dracula in the new remake, which is teased as a ‘big-budget’ project. Titled ‘Dracula – A Love Tale,’ this upcoming film promises a new take on Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire tale.
Helmed by Luc Besson, the director behind ‘The Fifth Element’ and ‘Lucy,’ this project is described as a big-budget reimagining that explores Dracula’s origins, focusing on the gothic romance between Prince Vladimir and his wife. This narrative direction suggests the film will have themes of love, loss, and transformation, which sets it apart from previous adaptations.
Apart from Caleb Landry Jones, who is known for his role as Banshee in ‘X-Men: First Class,’ Christoph Waltz of ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is also set to appear in the film in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Details regarding the screenplay suggest viewers can expect ‘epic and potentially spectacular set pieces.’
Latest Updates On ‘Dracula – A Love Tale’
With pre-sales already launched in the European Film Market, ‘Dracula – A Love Tale’ signals strong market interest. Although the budget is big for a European production, it reportedly will not reach the financial heights of Besson’s ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.’
Caleb Landry Jones’s casting as Dracula places him among prestigious actors who have portrayed the vampire lord, including Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Gary Oldman.
In collaboration with EuropaCorp, Luc Besson Productions is producing the film, with Paris-based Kinology handling sales and discussions with potential distributors. As of now, the project does not have a set release date. Landry Jones, on the other hand, has two upcoming projects, ‘Harvest‘ and ‘Two Wolves.‘
