Zack Snyder Announces LAPD Action Film After ‘Rebel Moon’ Backlash

Zack Snyder to direct LAPD action thriller at Netflix.

Zack Snyder is set to direct a new feature film for Netflix. He is co-writing the script for the currently untitled action movie with frequent collaborator Kurt Johnstad.

The project, which is in early development, will be produced Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Wesley Coller for Stone Quarry.

“In the high-stakes world of life and death, an elite LAPD unit are relentlessly confronted with the unforgiving collision of law and morality,” reads the film’s official logline.

“Years ago, Dan Lin and I had a conversation about our shared interest in telling a compelling and visceral character-driven story set within the intense, complex and captivating landscape of the LAPD,” Zack Snyder said in a statement. “It’s a conversation that has stuck with me. So, as you would expect, I’m very excited to now have the opportunity to partner with Dan, along with the rest of my amazing partners at Netflix, in developing this story.”

‘Rebel Moon’ was poorly received by critics, with Snyder saying, ”I don’t really have an answer to the criticism.”

Zack Snyder wants to expand ‘Rebel Moon’ to at least 6 movies.  He spoke to RadioTimes.com and admitted he hopes to make at least six movies in the ‘Rebel Moon’ series:“I guess four makes sense. Four or six movies, depending… I guess it’s whether or not every time we make one of these movies we make two, that’s the question. We were talking about it the other day and I was like, would an audience be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon? Would they be like, ‘Oh, it’s one now? Great.’”

‘Rebel Moon’ started with ‘Part One: A Child of Fire.’ It did really well on Netflix after the release. Thanks to its success, fans now have a comic book, a book, and a video game along with the movies.
