Zack Snyder and Netflix have exciting news about the ‘Rebel Moon’ universe.
As CBR reports, there will be a new podcast called ‘The Seneschal.’ It will be a prequel to the Rebel Moon movies. This podcast will start on July 29, and it will tell the events that happened 500 years before the Rebel Moon films.
‘The Seneschal’ will explore the origins of the characters that fans met in the movies: the Jimmys. Snyder recently shared in a teaser video that he wants to explain how the Jimmys were created:
“Now that you’ve met the Jimmys in the movie, I want to tell their story, their creation, and how they came to be. I can’t wait for you to listen.”
You can see his tweet and the teaser below.

It Will Be a Six-Part Series
‘Fallout’s Ella Purnell will lead the cast of this podcast. She will play a character named Raina. Other actors in the podcast include Naveen Andrews (Grigory), Alfred Enoch (Adwin), Peter Serafinowicz (Bartholomew), and Jason Isaacs (King Ulmer). Purnell described the podcast as ‘unexpected, devastating, and epic’ in the teaser.
The official series description reveals that Moa and its colonies were ruled by a harsh despot named King Ulmer 500 years before the events of Rebel Moon. He was disliked by his people but wanted to stay in power. Ulmer used the prophecy of Issa to control the masses and ordered inventors to build a powerful warrior knight.
The podcast will tell the story of the first Jimmy, the person who built him, and the woman who gave him life.
‘The Seneschal’ will be a six-part series. The first episode, ‘An Exposition of Novelties,’ will be released on July 29. It will be followed by:
- ‘The Mechanicus’ on August 5
- ‘A Wedding Surprise’ on August 12
- ‘For Issa!’ on August 19
- ‘The Divine Child’ on August 26
- ‘A Prophecy Fulfilled’ on September 2
Alternate R-rated cuts of the ‘Rebel Moon’ movies will be available on Netflix starting August 2. The movies are originally called ‘A Child of Fire’ and ‘The Scargiver.’ They are now renamed to ‘Chapter One: Chalice of Blood’ and ‘Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.’
