Zack Snyder wants to go back and fix the parts he thinks could be better in one of his older movies.
In a recent interview with Empire, Snyder said he really wants to change ‘Sucker Punch’ because he feels it wasn’t finished the right way. He admitted that even the special director’s version of the movie isn’t what he wanted it to be; it’s just longer:
“The only movie I would change is ‘Sucker Punch’ because it never really got finished correctly. Even the director’s cut is not really the correct cut. It’s really just an extended version. If I had the chance, I would fix that movie.”
It turns out the director has extra scenes already filmed:
“I have the footage already shot; they just have to let me put it together. We ask every now and then. We have to ask again. I think there has to be a window when no-one’s got the movie. If they want to start a campaign, that’s alright.”
Snyder Did This Before
Snyder’s movies often have more than one version — like different editions or cuts that add new scenes or change parts of the story. He’s done this before with ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.’ ‘Justice League’ even got a completely new version because so many fans asked for it. Now, he’s talking about doing something similar with ‘Sucker Punch.’
Snyder also talked with Empire about his new movie ‘Rebel Moon.’ It will have different versions, too. But he made it clear that if he could pick only one of his movies to fix, it would be ‘Sucker Punch.’ He hopes that fans might start a campaign like they did for ‘Justice League.’
‘Sucker Punch’ was a flop when it first came out. Also, some people didn’t like how the film presented its female characters.
