Zack Snyder’s Future For DCEU Sounds Suspiciously Similar To MCU Finale

Snyder’s ideas closely resemble Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Zack Snyder shares his plans for how he wanted the DC Extended Universe to end. However, his ideas sound a lot like another ending — Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Snyder told GQ he wanted DCEU’s final chapter to feature a big showdown between Superman and Darkseid. He talked about a scene where Superman would lose and then use time travel to fix things and finally defeat Darkseid:

“He (Superman) was going to have to succumb to the Anti-life, be destroyed, turn the clock back, and then get his chance for this battle against Darkseid that would have finished his trilogy of becoming this guardian, and sort of, return him to his humanity.”

This was something hinted at in earlier films but now we know it would not happen as first expected.

You can watch the interview below.

If You Think That Sounds Familiar, You’re Not Alone

Snyder’s story seems like the one in Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’: the Avengers fight Thanos, lose, and then use time travel to try to go back and stop Thanos before he can do any damage. So, both involve going back in time to save the day.

It may lead some to think DC is just following in Marvel’s footsteps, rather than coming up with something new. Snyder already used time travel in his ‘Justice League,’ but using it again to solve big problems might feel like it’s overdone. Plus, if heroes can always go back in time, why don’t they do it for every problem?
