Zendaya Admits Disney Prepared Her For Mature Scenes

She joked about how those experiences were good practice for her new movie, ‘Challengers,’ where she takes on a more serious role.

Zendaya joked that her time on the Disney Channel helped her prepare for more grown-up roles, including the one she plays in ‘Challengers.’

The actress recently joined a press event in Australia, where she was asked how she got ready for her role in ‘Challengers.’ She joked that her Disney show ‘K.C. Undercover’ helped her:

“K.C. Undercover. No, I’m kidding! You know, listen, the Disney stuff really does. It’s a good training ground.”

Fans had a lot to say about Zendaya’s comments. Most of them understood that Zendaya was just having fun with her answer, but others claimed this had another meaning:

“Disney Channel prepared her to film a sexual thriller? Investigate them now! It’s Nickelodeon all over again!”

Another wrote:

“Every joke is a half-truth.”

You can watch that part of the interview below.

‘Challengers’ Actually Has a Steamy Scene

‘Challengers’ is a movie about love and sports. Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan, who is a very good tennis player who has grown up and faces big challenges. This role is quite different from the ones she had on Disney Channel. It involves more serious and adult themes, including a scene where her character is very close to two male co-stars.

Zendaya first became famous on Disney Channel shows like ‘Shake It Up’ and ‘K.C. Undercover.’ She has come a long way since her Disney days. She took on more serious roles like her role in ‘Euphoria,’ and now, ‘Challengers.’

Zendaya is also one of the producers of ‘Challengers.’ The movie is set to come out in theaters on April 26, 2024.
