Zendaya, who made her feature film debut in the superhero film ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ become the youngest winner of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in the HBO drama series ‘Euphoria.’
As known the 24-year-old actress received her first-ever career nomination at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, after she had got recognized for portraying teen drug addict ‘Rue’ in HBO’s drama series.
Zendaya said during the virtual Emmy ceremony, surrounded by her family:
“I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating. But I just want to say there is hope in the young people out there – I know that our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that – but there is hope in our young people and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, ‘I see you, I admire you, I thank you.”
Once the news regarding Zendaya’s victory, notable names in Hollywood took to their social media accounts to congratulate her. ‘Big Little Lies’ star Reese Witherspoon wrote:
“So happy for you @Zendaya!! Your performance in #Euphoria is outstanding 🌟💯🙌🏼”
The well-known actress Laverne Cox who won Daytime Emmy Award in Outstanding Special Class Special wrote on Instagram:
“One of the moments last night that had me fighting back tears. The performances delivered by my fellow nominees this year were truly epic. I am truly inspired by all of you. That you for the work. And @zendaya!!! Gurl!!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!”
