Phoebe Dynevor On Losing ‘Superman: Legacy’ Role To Rachel Brosnahan

She was close to getting the part, but it went to Rachel Brosnahan instead.

Phoebe Dynevor of ‘Bridgerton’ recently opened up to Variety about her experience auditioning for the role of Lois Lane in the upcoming DC Universe film, ‘Superman: Legacy,’ but losing it to Rachel Brosnahan.

In the interview, Dynevor shared her thoughts on the audition process for James Gunn’s highly anticipated film. Reflecting on her journey and expressing her admiration for Lois Lane’s character, she said:

“It was a whirlwind, and then I realized that it was over, but it was great. She saves Superman. She’s the brains; she’s actually the fearless one.”

Directed by James Gunn, ‘Superman: Legacy‘ is slated for a worldwide release on July 11, 2025. David Corenswet has been cast as Superman/Clark Kent in the film.

The casting process, involving audition tapes and screen tests in full costume, was thorough to ensure the best fit for the characters. The tests were conducted over two days, including one with the actors in full Superman attire.

‘Superman: Legacy’ is part of a larger strategy by DC Studios to revamp their cinematic universe, which includes other major projects like ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold.’

Dynevor and Brosnahan Have Other Projects As Well

Dynevor announced that she will not be returning for the third season of ‘Bridgerton.’ However, she is involved in several other projects.

She is set to star in the Sony Pictures thriller ‘I Heart Murder‘ directed by Matt Spicer and will take on both acting and executive producing roles in adaptations of Jonathan Stroud’s novel ‘The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne,‘ and Naoise Dolan’s novel ‘Exciting Times.

Dynevor will also star in ‘The Threesome,‘ opposite Logan Lerman, in the psychological thriller ‘Wichita Libra,‘ as the antagonist in ‘Anniversary‘ and a lead in the spy thriller ‘Inheritance.

Meanwhile, Rachel Brosnahan, who secured the role of Lois Lane, continues her career with other new roles. Brosnahan is set to appear in an espionage thriller film titled ‘The Amateur,’ directed by James Hawes, and in the TV series ‘Lois & Varga.’
