The ‘Stranger Things’ team announced the start of filming for Season 5 with a photo of the cast on social media. The January 2024 photo didn’t feature Eduardo Franco, which sparked concerns among fans about his character, Argyle.
Commenting on this in a chat with podcast host Steve Varley, the actor revealed:
“I appreciate that. It’s nice to hear that there’s some sort of concern, you know what I mean? But yeah, I never got a phone call, so yeah, I think that’s it.”
Franco’s Character Says Goodbye
Argyle, introduced in the series as an employee at Surfer Boy Pizza, became friends with Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) after the Byers family moved to California. In Season 4, he drove the group to Hawkins and helped Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) rebuild her home.
His character’s arc had an open ending, leading many to think he would appear in the final season to join the fight against Vecna. But apparently, the character will be yet another one to say goodbye.
What Else About The New Season?
‘Stranger Things’ has been highly criticized in the last few years for ‘ballooning the cast’ with the addition of new characters every season. So, the story will probably focus more on the main Hawkins team’s character arcs in the upcoming final episodes.
Season 5 will likely air in late 2025 or early 2026, with the return of most of the main cast, including Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, and Noah Schnapp. With its arrival, the fate of some characters like Max (Sadie Sink) will also be revealed.
