‘Halo’s Pablo Schreiber Calls The Weird Sex Scene A ‘Huge Mistake’

Schreiber admits that he fought against the scene in the show.

Pablo Schreiber recently voiced his opinion on one of the show’s most controversial elements – a sex scene in the first season that has been the subject of debate among fans and critics. As the actor told SFX, this was a ‘huge mistake.’

The sex scene showed Master Chief, a character traditionally seen as a stoic warrior, in a sexual encounter with Makee, a human spy for the Covenant. Fans criticized this narrative choice, citing it as a misunderstanding of the character seen in the games. In the interview, Schreiber also expressed his disapproval of this plot development:

“The decision to make the connection between Makee and John a romantic connection was a huge mistake. I felt it was a huge mistake at the time, and I argued and fought against it. But I am who I am. I don’t write the scripts. I only give my opinion. It wasn’t listened to.”

As seen by discussions on online platforms like Reddit, fans voiced their displeasure and confusion over this decision. In contrast to his stance on the controversial sex scene, Schreiber stated that he has no issues with the decision to unmask Master Chief in the series, which was a move that also split fan opinions.

When Will ‘Halo’ Season 2 Arrive?

Halo,‘ an adaptation of the popular Xbox video game franchise, explores a futuristic war between human forces and an alien alliance known as the Covenant. Developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane, the show has been a topic of discussion for its departures from the original game’s storyline.

The series, which premiered its first season in March 2022, received mixed responses. Critics praised its action sequences, cast performances, and visual effects. However, it also faced criticism for its writing and deviations from the video game narrative. Despite these mixed reviews, the series is set to return with its second season on February 8, 2024.

As the series prepares for its second season, with additional cast members like Joseph Morgan and Cristina Rodlo joining, how the narrative will evolve remains to be seen. The show’s producers, including Kiki Wolfkill of 343 Industries, defended the first season’s controversial choices, stating that they were crucial for humanizing Master Chief.

However, the response to Schreiber’s recent comments may influence the direction of the upcoming season.
