Aaron Stanford On His Potential Return To ‘X-Men’: ‘Been There And Done That’

Stanford says he’s not sure because he feels like he has already played that part.

In a recent conversation with The Direct about his potential return to the ‘X-Men’ franchise, Aaron Stanford offered a non-committal stance, as he had ‘been there and done that.’

As the MCU prepares for ‘Deadpool 3’s release on July 26, 2024, there has been speculation about which characters from the X-Men universe will appear in this new chapter. Among the names is Stanford, known for his portrayal of Pyro in the earlier 20th Century Fox X-Men films. However, noting the sense of completion he feels with the role, the actor said:

“I’d have to think about it. You know, it’s a character that, I’ve been there and done that. I quite enjoyed it. And I still have many, many fond memories and a lot of lasting friendships from those experiences… I don’t know, man. It’s an intriguing question. I would have to consider it.”

Stanford’s history with the X-Men series began with his role in ‘X2: X-Men United‘ (2003), followed by a return in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand‘ (2006). Despite the fond memories and lasting friendships formed during his tenure with the X-Men series, it appears the actor remains ambivalent about reprising his role as Pyro in the MCU.

‘Deadpool 3’ Will Bring Wolverine Back

‘Deadpool 3’ will integrate Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) into the MCU, alongside a cast that includes Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, and Jennifer Garner. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film is not just a sequel but a bridge between the universes of Marvel characters following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

This crossover will potentially revitalize the MCU, addressing criticisms of recent projects while hoping to achieve box-office success.

‘Deadpool’s Multiversal elements open the door for appearances by various X-Men characters, with speculation about cameos from James Marsden’s Cyclops and Halle Berry’s Storm, alongside Jackman’s Wolverine. Stanford’s Pyro could logically fit within this, although the actor’s comments suggest that if a return were to happen, it might be limited to a brief cameo.

As of now, ‘Deadpool 3’ has wrapped up filming and is set to release on on July 26, 2024.
