Timothée Chalamet Doesn’t Want To Follow Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘No Superhero Movies’ Rule

Chalamet is open to the idea of appearing in a superhero film despite the ‘Titanic’ actor’s famous advice to steer clear of them.

During a chat with The New York Times, where Timothée Chalamet and Denis Villeneuve were discussing the sequel to their 2021 hit, ‘Dune: Part Two,’ the actor explained whether he ever received offers to play a superhero. He shared a bit of advice he got from Leonardo DiCaprio back in 2018 and said:

“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs,’ which I thought was very good. I follow them both!”

Despite this, Chalamet didn’t shut the door completely on superhero films:

“But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’ If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

The Actor’s Choice Of Roles

The 28-year-old first hinted at this advice without naming the ‘Django’ star, saying someone he looked up to gave it to him, but he later confirmed in a 2022 British Vogue interview that it was indeed DiCaprio. This advice had become a sort of career mantra for him, though now he seems a bit more flexible about it.

So far, Chalamet has chosen roles that are far from the typical superhero character but are still popular, like the magical Willy Wonka and Paul Atreides from ‘Dune,’ who does have some supernatural abilities.

Talking about his role in the screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 book, the actor said to The New York Times:

“I’m playing a grounded character who is — simply by way of the eyes on him — going through something I can relate to.”

‘Dune 2’ is coming out this Friday.
